Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa has named eight lucky people with whom he will go on a trip to the moon using Elon Musk's SpaceX Starship next year for free.
Maezawa, 47, who flew to the International Space Station on a Russian Soyuz spacecraft as a tourist in 2021, hopes to return to space and orbit the moon as part of a project called dearMoon. Their trip should last almost a whole week and landing on the Earth's satellite is not included in his plan. The Japanese businessman who founded the online clothing store Zozo bought all the seats on the Starship spacecraft, which is due to go to the moon during 2023. In March 2021, Maezawa announced a call for applications for eight "tickets" for those who want to go to the moon, and now he has mentioned the names of those he considered worthy of going with him.
